Kenya Commercial Bank forward Paul 'Pau' Murunga will captain the Lions Franchise for this years Bamburi Rugby Super Series.

The band was handed to Murunga at the weekend after trials in which the team was selected.

Coach Bill Githinji is keen to get off to a winning start "Our strength is in the pack where we hope to dominate and control the game," he said. It is in this department that Arthur Shikwe, Rodgers Lai and Anthony Ogot are expected to lay a platform for the backs.

The coach is wary of a new Franchise Twigas who will be based in Arusha. "You cannot underrate them. It will be interesting to see their approach and quality," Githinji acknowledged.

But the biggest headache remains Rhinos, the defending champions. "They have everything especially with all the players available. Rhinos could be vulnerable if the national seven-a-side players are out for national duty," the coach observed.

He will miss the services of forward Arnold Odera who left last week for the USA. "That is a big blow," Githinji commented.

In the backs, Githinji will rely on two Mombasa Sports Club players, Silas Amunga and Mathew Musita. Other players expected to be fielded are Howard Okwemba, Sebastian Shiboka, Jotham 'Yahoo' Yahuma, Andrew Amonde and Dennis Mwanja.
