INTRODUCING.... BILL GITHINJI

Former national seven-a-side coach Bill Githinji is the new coach at Kenya Commercial Bank.

Githinji takes over from Michael 'Tank' Otieno who has molded a winning side out of the bankers, which culminated into their best season last year when they retained the Kenya Cup league and added the knock out Enterprise Cup and Impala Floodlit tournament trophy. He was introduced to the players during the KCB trials at the weekend in which over 50 players vied for positions in the senior team.

The former Impala coach will be assisted by Howard Okwemba, elder brother of Newton Ong'alo and Collins Kimani.

At the KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka, over 50 players attended competitive trials. 'It is a good sign for the season ahead," noted Wangila Simiyu the team manager. The bankers have kept the bulk of most of their players who have been nurtured at this ground.

Some of the old hands keen on cementing their place in the team are Arthur Shikwe, Okwemba, Anthony Ogot, Peter Mutai, Anthony Ochino and Paul Murunga who will captain the team again this year. KCB has four players in the national seven-a-side team. Paul Murunga, Dennis Mwanja, Arnold Odera and Andrew Amonde are in the 24-man squad with Amonde and Mwanja in the core team.
