NAKURU UPSET KCB IN KENYA CUP

After beating former champions Impala RFC 8-6 in their opening match,Kenya Cup league returnees Nakuru RFC continued with their giant kiling ways, carrying a 7-3 half time lead to defeat defending league champions Kenya Commercial Bank 7-6 in an exciting match played yesterday at the Nakuru Athletic Club.

The home side scored their only try midway through the first half through Pascal Wetukha.Simon Warui converted. The try came at a time when KCB had Anthony Ogot yellow carded for punching an opponent and Arnold Odera following Ogot after committing a professional foul.

The Lions points came from the boot of Peter Mutai who kicked over two penalties in the first and second halves.

There was further heartbreak for the Lions who totally dominated the second half when Peter Mutai missed two penalties that would have changed the course of the match. This was a tale of missed chances on the Lions side and resolute defence driven by sheer determination from Nakuru RFC.

NAKURU II HOLD KCB II IN ERIC SHIRLEY SHIELD
In the earlier fixture played at the same venue, hosts Nakuru II survived virtual bombardment from KCB II to hold on for a 0-0 draw.KCB II totally dominated their hosts but were unable to turn this dominance into points.
