Western Union National Sevens Circuit: All to play for at the Dala Sevens

38 points are on offer when 32 teams duel it out over 48 matches to decide the 2010 Dala Sevens and heavily impact on the Western Union National Sevens Circuit standings. Resultantly the teams will be bunched in eight groups of four teams each, meaning that only the group winners will secure passage to the quarter finals.

With Mwamba and Quins locked in a tight race for the 2010 title, events in Kisumu on 4th and 5th September 2010 could dramatically alter the circuit, especially when you consider that Impala and Nakuru, semi finalists in the opening two legs are not too far off the trail. They came agonizingly close to reaching the Prinsloo Sevens final and could realize their full potential in Kisumu.

Reigning National Sevens Circuit champions Strathmore Leos have bowed out at the quarter finals of the opening two rounds of the circuit in Nairobi and Nakuru, going on to win the plate on both categories and will be looking to returning to their 2009 form that saw them win their maiden title. KCB, Homeboyz, Mean Machine and Nakuru will all want to put a foot in the main cup quarter finals, and maybe go all the way to the main cup final.

There is a heavy representation from fledgling sides such as Nakuru Mtaa, Greenfields RFC, Kisii RFC, Molo RFC, Law School not your everyday rugby playing clubs as well as Oryx, Siaya MTC who made their debut last year and the returning Masinde Muliro who mounted a consistent campaign in 2009, reaching the main cup quarter final on three ocassions .

Kisumu RFC's Paul Dan Okong'o has assured the rugby fraternity that his club has the capacity to hold what is now Kenya's largest sevens rugby tournament in terms of participating teams.
