Close scores mark Kenya Cup Match Day Three

Interesting is the word that best describes Kenya Cup action on match day three. All four fixtures produced close scores, an indicator of how tight Saturday's fixtures were. There were no cricket scores; two of the losing sides gained bonus points for losing by less than seven points while the other two losing sides narrowly missed out on the bonus points, losing their ties by eight points.

Mitch Ocholla's Strathmore Leos, yet to score a try this season, restricted Nivea Kenya Harlequins to a 5-3 win at the Nairobi School, Resolution Health Impala RFC edged out Nondescripts RUFC 16-10 at the Impala Club, Mean Machine RFC registered their first win, coming from 0-7 down to beat visiting Nakuru RFC 15-7 at the UoN Grounds while Kenya Commercial Bank RFC were the only winning side to pick up a bonus point, scoring four tries in their 26-18 victory over a hard fighting Mwamba RFC at the Lions' Den in Ruaraka.

As the league quickly approaches its business end, the race for playoff positions is heating up although the leading trio of Quins, KCB and Impala seem to have put some daylight between them and the chasing pack. Machine's victory over Nakuru makes the fight for the final slot all the more interesting; Strathmore, Mwamba and Nondies are equally playing well, making the fight for fourth place very intriguing.
