Safari Sevens:Schools and women's tournament results

The fourteenth edition of the Safari Sevens kicked off today with matches in the schools and women's categories.

Schools

Tries from Collins Injera's younger brother Mike Agevi, Arnold Kipkorir and Fabian Olando (who also managed two conversions) gave defending champions Western a 17-0 win over Nairobi in their final pool "B" match that enabled them finish tops and claim a place in tomorrow's final against rivals Nyanza province who put Zimbabwe's ambitions in check courtesy of a narrow 15-12 come from behind victory that saw them top pool "A".

Pool  A runners up Zimbabwe will play Pool B runners up Nairobi for the plate while Rift Valley will duel with Central for the bowl title in Saturday's other schools fixtures.

 

Women's Event

Mwamba's women were too strong for Vivi, winning both their duels ahead of their final fixture on Saturday.

The veteran's competition for players aged over 35 kicks off later this evening at under the Impala Club's floodlights. The tournament proper gets underway at 9.00am East African Time when the sixth placed team in the latest IRB Sevens World Rankings, Kenya, face off with South Africa's Western Province in the pool "A" opener.
