Great Rift Tens: Quarter final defeat for the Lions

The KCB Lions bowed out of the Great Rift Tens with a 17-26 quarter
final loss to Impala

It was a another great escape act by the Red Shirts, who trailed 0-10
at half-time. Benjamin Otieno and Andrew Amonde scored the opening
tries for the Lionswho led 10-0 at half-time

Peter Mutai scored a try that his younger brother Edwin Mutai
converted as KCB raced to a 17-0 lead.

Felix Makori started the Impala comeback with a try under the posts
which his captain Nato Simiyu converted. Kevin Umbuge was next over
and Nato was sure as Impala reduced the lead to 17-14. Two more tries
saw the Lions fall to the 17-26 defeat.

Speaking after the game, KCB assistant coach Simon Jawichre attributed
the loss to a lapse in concentration, an area that he conceded needs
attention ahead of the forthcoming Kenya Cup and Eric Shirley Shield
campaign that kicks off this weekend.

Strathmore won the title with a 24-7 win over Impala RFC.
