KCB lose to Mwamba in Prinsloo Sevens final

Former KCB player Mark Okwaro scored a try as Mwamba defeated Kenya Commercial Bank 5-0 to win the Prinsloo Nakuru seven-a-side tournament on Sunday at the Nakuru Athletic Club.

Mwamba collected 30 points from the 24-team event which was a big boost ahead of the George Mwangi Kabeberi Memorial Sevens which they will host next Saturday and Sunday in Nairobi. This was a considerably weakened Mwamba side who had six players in the national team which is in Madagascar for the Africa Cup semi-finals.

They defeated Impala 22-10 in the semi-final and knocked out a youthful Nondescripts side 22-0 in the quarters.

Lat year’s overall circuit winners Kenya Harlequin were beaten 19-14 at the main cup quarter final by KCB who only made it through to the main cup as one of the top finishers in the pool stage.

Assistant coach Howard Okwemba rued his side's missed chances in the final match.

Hosts Nakuru put up a sterling effort but lost 7-31 to KCB in the main cup semi finals. Their second team won the Bowl by beating Kenya Polytechnic 20-7 while Mean Machine beat Daystar University 17-5 in the Plate final.
