QUINS WARM UP TABLE FOR KCB

Rugby Union - World Rugby Links

August 7, 2007

Kenya Harlequin lead the Kenya Cup League table with 50 points after completing their fixtures at the weekend with a 29-8 win over Nondescripts at the ASK Jamhuri ground.

It is a creepy feeling knowing that they could end up being crowned the champions if Mean Machine defeat last year’s champions Kenya Commercial Bank when the league ends. Arithmetic goes to play here. KCB need only one point from the match against Mean Machine which means they must score at least four tries or lose by a margin which is equal to or less than one point.

In this scenario, they will finish with 50 points – same as Quins – But will retain the title because of having a better points aggregate. Any kind of a draw will favour the bankers who will finish with 51 points although a win will open three-point lead which could add up to 54 should they get a bonus point.

Either way, only the order by the top three teams needs to be decided. It would be difficult for Impala to overtake Quins even if they win their remaining match against Mombasa Sports Club by a bonus point. They can only reach a maximum of 48 points.

Next matches on Sunday August 12, 2007

Impala v Mombasa SC (Impala Club)

Mean Machine v KCB (UoN)
