The KCB Lions'edged closer to a third consecutive league title following a nail-biting 13-12 victory over Kenya Harlequin at The Lions' Den on Saturday. The win puts the Lions on top of the league table.KCB and Quins are now level on 45 points though the Lions' lead thanks to a superior goal difference of +162. KCB who play Impala in their next Kenya Cup fixture can make it to a maximum of 55 points should they win the two remaining matches with bonus points.Quins’ loss meant that they have an outside chance as they can get to a maximum of 50 should they win their last match.

KCB scored their points through Peter Mutai who scored two penalties and a conversion while Arnold "Arnoldinho" Odera scored the decisive try.Quins scored their twelve points from the boot of Jude Thumbi who made four successful attempts.Thumbi had a chance to seal victory for Quins but his penalty attempt bounced off the posts with three minutes left on the clock.

Lions' and Kenya head coach Michael "Tank" Otieno said that this was a tight match, saying,"it was really a tight one, perhaps tighter than the two wins Kenya registered against Cameroon and Morocco in the Africa Cup. I believe we were a better side though we made a number of errors. We did push them closer to the line but the boys just lacked the final option to score tries. We also made unnecessary infringements that gave Quins three penalties." Thomas "T.O" Odundo, the Quins coach agreed that the match was tight although he was not pleased with referee Nick Gachoya's calls.
